Spend a Day in Laguna Beach with Your Dog

Lucky for us and our four-legged besties, Laguna Beach is one of the most dog-friendly beach cities. During the summer season (June 15-September 10), leashed dogs are welcome on the beach during the hours from 6pm-9am. Non-summer, they are welcome anytime.

When you’re done playing with puppers on the beach, there’s a number of other fun local activities to do with your dog. From boutique stores that welcome pups while you shop, to restaurant menus custom made for dogs, to (quite possibly) the world’s most beautiful dog park, you don’t have to look far for a place to bond with your furry friends in Laguna Beach.

Below is our recommendation for how to spend a dream-worthy day with your dog in Laguna Beach.

Laguna Beach Dog Park

We are not joking when we say that the Laguna Beach Dog Park just might win for best dog park EVER. Set amongst the hills of Laguna Canyon, with a perfectly manicured lawn and fenced off sections for both small and large dogs, it is easy to pass hours here while your pup runs free over 2 acres. Follow the Laguna Beach Dog Park Instagram page for fun events like the monthly Doodle Romp which features hundreds of different types of Doodle breeds. (We are regulars -- so if you go next month be sure to say hi to Benny and Bev!)

Art for the Soul

Art for the Soul is a boutique store in downtown Laguna on Forest Avenue that’s not only dog-friendly, but even boasts a resident artist, Debra Carman, who exclusively draws dogs in her paintings. With colorful images that capture the essence of a canine’s friendly disposition and personality, her creations have become a must-have for dog lovers throughout the world. Art for the Soul also carries an assortment of other dog paraphernalia in store. A dog lover’s dream!

Naked Dog Bistro

A three-minute walk from Art for the Soul will lead you to Naked Dog Bistro. What better way to end a shopping excursion with Fido than stopping at Laguna’s local doggie bakery? Browse through their selection of healthy and gluten-free dog food and bakery goods to find something both nutritious and delicious!

DINE WITH YOUR PUP

For a refreshing acai bowl or a smoothie after your morning walk, Active Culture is the place to go with its dog-welcoming outdoor seating.

For a more substantial fare, Sapphire offers a globally inspired menu and welcomes furry friends on their garden patio.

For an ocean view and your furry friend by your side, The Cliff Restaurant is perfect for pups and even has a dog-friendly menu! Come for the food and the view, and stay for the live music!

STAY OVER WITH YOUR FOUR-LEGGED PAL

Montage Laguna Beach is the best of the best. Whether you’re having a drink in their ocean-view lobby or exploring one of the area’s many scenic walking paths or picnicing at Marine Park, the Montage knows that dogs are family and embraces them with pet-friendly rooms, custom pet menus, and impeccable service.

Not in your budget? End the day with a staycation at Casa Laguna, a quaint Laguna Beach hotel that even has a grouping of rooms that are specifically made for people traveling with pets, spacious patios included.

For a boutique experience, Hotel Joaquin also extends its hospitality to pets and has a nice ocean-view grass area they will love to play in.
